Scholar and Merit Finalists, 1987 - 2023

Each year, the Donna Reed Foundation for the Performing Arts grants scholarships and merit awards to individuals who qualify for post secondary education and desire to pursue an education or a career in the performing arts. The Foundation continues its long tradition of recognition programs for excellence including a history of national and regional competitions, many culminating in Scholarship Concert performances before judges and live audiences.

Many talented Donna Reed Foundation scholars have shared with us their successes in education, performing arts, and other achivements. Here is a small sampling of our past scholar reports:

Kathleen Freeman Spirit Award

Each year the Donna Reed Workshop instructors nominate one student to receive the Kathleen Freeman Spirit Award. Ms. Freeman (1923-2001), star of stage, television and screen, was a favorite acting and comedy instructor at the Donna Reed Workshops. Students are nominated based on Kathleen's unique personality and work ethic. Commitment. Passion. Willingness to try anything. Unfailing aid to fellow performers. High energy. Good humor. Eagerness. This award is for more than talent or appearance. It is for that special quality that defines the performing artist's mentality.
