Warren Adler has risen to the top rank of American writers with 16 books
already published world-wide, two more to be published this year (1991),
a hit movie, a scheduled three hour American Playhouse (PBS) trilogy, and
a sale to Hollywood which netted the highest price ever for an unpublished
manuscript. With his books translated into most major languages, the success
of the hit movie based on his novel, The War of the Roses, and three
major movies nearing production, Adler has ignited a publishing/movie war
for his material.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Adler graduated from New York University with
a major in English Literature. He worked for the New York Daily News and
was editor of the Queens Post before moving to Washington, D.C. He owned
Warren Adler, Ltd., an advertising and public relations agency in Washington
for 18 years. Adler also owned and operated an NBC affiliate television
station, three radio stations, and a trade publishing business. Now expanded
and operated by his son, it is known today as The Adler Group.
