Paul Gleason is the Artistic Director and Producer of the American Center
for Music Theater. He is a nationally known director, producer, and teacher
in musical theater and opera.
At the age of seventeen, he came to Los Angeles to sing, act, and dance
on such television shows as Playhouse 90, Ford Startime,
The Ed Sullivan Show, The Danny Kaye Show, and Desilu
Playhouse. Thirteen feature films followed, during which the State
Department sent him on three world tours with his own company. While in
the military service, he directed the All-Army World Touring Shows and
taught acting in Washington, D.C.
His major thrust became that of a director/choreographer/producer as
he worked on The Carol Burnett Show, The Jackie Gleason Show,
the Los Angeles Free Shakespeare Festival, and presented a new production
of Billy the Kid with the original choreography by Eugene Loring.
For President Reagan at the White House, Mr. Gleason staged the musical
numbers of Great Moments from American Musical Theater starring John Raitt and Mary Marten.
