A native of Iowa and founding director of Ballet Iowa, Mary Joyce has
been instrumental in bringing the art of dance to the stages of Iowa, through
public schools, private schools and to the concert stage. Mary Joyce studied
with Rose Lorenz and Stone Camryn in Chicago, and has taught for the Iowa
Arts Council, the Iowa Dance Council, the Des Moines Ballet School and
Company (which she founded), Greensboro Ballet and the Glen Ellyn Children's
Dance Theater. She has served on the Board for the Mid-States Regional
Ballet Association, Chairperson for Craft and Choreography Conference,
and Chair of the Educational Committee for MetroArts Alliance.
