Lynn Carey has been singing and writing songs since her early teens.
Her father, actor and poet Macdonald Carey, is a jazz aficionado and introduced
her to music at a very early age. In the late eighties, after years as
a rock & roll performer, she returned to singing the great jazz and
blues standards she grew up hearing with her father. These diverse influences
give her a unique style of her own whether she sings Jazz, R & B, Pop,
or Rock.
In 1991, Lynn had six albums out as a solo artist and had appeared as
a guest vocalist, writer, and arranger on many other albums as well as
singing background vocals on over twenty five albums and album projects
in English as well as over 7 other languages. She was nominated for a Grammy
Award in 1987 for her part on the album From All Sides by the L.A.
Jazz Choir. She also worked on an album with Russian jazz/fusion artist,
Fydor Ivanov.
Ms. Carey has also performed as lead singer and dancer in a video for
the Sunkist Company, and does "sound alike" vocals of such notables
as Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, Barbara Streisand, Stevie Nicks, Patti Page,
Ethel Merman, and more, for Orion Films, MGM Pictures, and others. She
also sang five songs for the TV show Cagney and Lacey.
