Kirk Smith

Conductor Kirk Smith is currently Associate Professor of Music at Iowa State University and Director of Orchestra Activities. He also serves as co-conductor of the Black Music Repertory Ensemble of Chicago and has guest-conducted throughout the United States and also in Taipei, working with notable soloists such as violinists Robert McDuffie, Sanford Allen, and Diane Monroe; vocalists Simon Estes, William Brown, Hilda Harris, and Donnie Ray Albert; and the percussion group Nexus. Recent engagements include the Des Moines Symphony and the Dayton Philharmonic. Kirk is a native of Baltimore, Maryland.
